Background and challenges

The 2017 Road World Championships, Bergen Norway has their own Incident Command Center during the event. The command center has responsibility for all the commercialized zones during the event. The Emergency Response Organization during the event is composed of people with high competence and experience in their field.

As the Safety Manager at the 2017 Road World Championships, Bergen Norway, Svein Erik Malkenes states that, “We needed a flexible and easy incident management software, which is intuitive and which requires minimum of training. Our personnel, who are out in the race course wanted a platform for real-time sharing of information. By using radio communication we do not have the possibility to document the communication and incidents during the race”.

Solution

The 2017 Road World Championships, Bergen Norway considered different incident management solutions, but chose RAYVN for for its flexibility and user-friendly interface. Malkenes states “With RAYVN we have greatly improved our communication process. We are able to quickly and decisively reach out to all members staff members, making sure they have all the instructions and information they need.

Using the RAYVN App leads to radio silence. The ability to give quiet feedback and communication – that is something we really appreciate during otherwise very stressful days in our Emergency Organization. In the Incident Command Center, there will be many people at all times. Reducing traffic of radio communication is a key factor for success when we are handling the event”.
